ASK TOONIO

Ask Toonio a question. Get back to the floor.

Toonio is the visual application your operation runs on. Ask Toonio is a second way into it — for when you already know what you want to know, and don’t want to go looking for it.

HOW IT FITS

The app is still the app

Your schedule, staff, availability, tasks, worked hours and daily close are all still in Toonio, on screens you click through. Ask Toonio doesn’t replace any of it, and you never have to open it.

Open it from the sidebar on desktop or the top bar on a phone. It opens over the page you’re on and closes back to exactly where you were.

WHAT YOU CAN ASK

Questions it answers today

Not demo prompts. These are the things Toonio can actually look up right now.

“Who hasn’t submitted availability?”

Checks the week you’re looking at and names the people you’re still waiting on.

“Who’s available Friday evening?”

Reads submitted availability and approved leave for that window, at that location.

“Where are we short next week?”

Compares the shifts you’ve planned against the coverage the week is supposed to have.

“Sarah is sick. Who could cover?”

Ranks who could take the shift on role, location, availability, hours already scheduled and clashes.

Ask in your own words. You don’t have to phrase it like this, and you don’t have to name a week — it uses the one you’re looking at and tells you which.

WHERE THE ANSWERS COME FROM

It looks things up. It doesn’t guess.

Toonio decides what is true; the assistant explains it. Availability, leave, coverage and candidate ranking all come from the same logic the schedule board uses, so an answer can’t disagree with the screen behind it.

If it can’t answer, it says so

Rather than quietly answering a nearby question it happens to be able to handle.

It knows the week you’re on

Ask without naming a week and it uses the one on your screen — then tells you which one it used.

It never invents a person

Your staff reach the model as anonymous ids. Real names are put back only when the answer reaches you.

WHAT IT CAN PREPARE

It prepares the change. You make it.

Ask Toonio can prepare three kinds of change today. Paste a list of new staff and it works out names, roles and employment types. Paste last week’s planning or a WhatsApp message and it sets up the week’s empty shifts. Ask to move, retime or re-label shifts that already exist and it lines up the changes. Each one arrives as a card you can read line by line, and nothing is created or changed until you press the button — so it never tells you it did something, because it didn’t. You did.

Adding someone this way doesn’t give them a Toonio login.

HOW IT BEHAVES

Ask. Review. Confirm.

Ask

In your own words, typed or out loud, from wherever you already are. Follow up the way you would with a colleague — it remembers what you just asked, and answers in the language you ask in.

Review

Anything that would write to your workspace is shown to you first, as something you can read line by line.

Confirm

You press the button. Ask Toonio never creates, changes, publishes or approves anything on its own.

Managers and admins only. Staff never see Ask Toonio.

What it doesn’t do

Ask Toonio helps with the parts of Toonio it supports. It does not assign or swap staff, move a shift to another location, publish a schedule, change availability or approve time off — ask it to, and it tells you where in Toonio to do it yourself. It has nothing to do with payroll, Dimona or any system outside Toonio.
